REVIEW

I had the same, low expectations as most people on social media when I first visited Paris in 2018, but I really believe the Eiffel Tower is a magnificent work of art. I’ve been to Paris several times more after 2018 and I still get the feels everytime I catch a glimpse of the Tower (from any vantage point in the city).

I’m lucky to say that I’ve never had problems in the Eiffel Tower area, but I’ve also heard many traumatizing stories from other tourists. So please, stay vigilant in the area and check out my hot tips below the next time you’re in the area.

Do I recommend the Eiffel Tower?

HOT TIPS

  1. Many people make the mistake of booking their hotels near the Eiffel Tower - do not do this. If your goal is to be in the city center, the Eiffel Tower is not the center of Paris. It is also not that centrally located.

  2. If you are looking for a skyline or aerial view of Paris - you are not going to find it going up the Eiffel Tower. I recommend you climb l’Arc de Triomphe instead, or better yet, go up the rooftop of Galeries Lafayette Haussmann for free.

  3. Be wary of pickpockets and scams in this area - if someone offers or asks you to do anything (like sign a petition), say no.

  4. If you’d like to be around less tourists, take your pictures on the Passerelle Debilly or anywhere along the Seine River - the angles here are also nice. Other more well-known places with an Eiffel Tower background include:

    • rue de l'Université

    • Pont d’Iena

    • Trocadero

    • avenue de Camoens

    • Square Rapp
